SEPTEMBER - AGM - ALBANIA

This year the members decided to go a bit of piste, and try somewhere off the beaten track for a change. So we alighted on the idea of visiting Albania, Tirana to be precise.

The following are the ADMINISTRATION DETAILS. If you only note one - note that you have to CHECK YOURSELF IN FOR THE FLIGHTS...............

ADMINISTRATION DETAILS

FLIGHTS  -  FRIDAY 4^TH SEPTEMBER

TRANSPORT:  Arrange your own pick-ups from home around 0300 (Hugh: are you offering transport?  I am taking Wayne, Ian Tony and Andy). 

Arrive Stanstead 0430 latest (2.5 hours before flight).  Gate closes at 0630).

RYANAIR  Flight No: RK8101.  Departs  07.10.  3 hour flight.     

Return Flight No: RK8289 at 12.25 on Tuesday. 

BAGGAGE – Small backpack (40x30x20) 1x10kg Cabin Bag (55x40x20)  No checked luggage. Note: For the 12 in extended legroom, BOTH bags go in the overhead lockers.

CHECK IN:  You do it yourself via the Ryanair app OR their website BUT the passes will only appear on their app on your phone.

Booking reference: T5J79E for all but Hugh, John and Ian who are on N66ERE.  CHECK IN AVAILABLE NOW.  100% digital boarding cards so it MUST be on your phone.

TRANSFER:  Land at 11.05.  Customs are quick and easy, non EU so no hassle.  Transfer by coach to hotel by 12.30.  Drop bags at reception as check in is 2.00 (I have requested early check in).

AGM ITINERARY

The plan was agreed by a majority and is broadly as follows:

FRIDAY:   Land at 11.00. Hotel by 12.30, check in at 2.00 (early check in depends on hotel). Free afternoon by the pool.  Met by our guide in the bar at 5.00, walking tour of the centre with bars and dinner.

SATURDAY:  Cycle tour of Tirana, bikes bought to hotel at 11.00.  Back by 2.00 via bars.  Free afternoon.  Meet at 6.00 in bar, bus to out of town traditional and quirky restaurant at 7.00, dinner at 8.00.  Bus back to town at 10.30.  Out on town.

SUNDAY:  Meet at 12.00, bus at 12.30 to Golem beach resort (one hour away), Lunch at AYO BEACH HOUSE at 2.00, lovely restaurant.  Day and evening on beach.  Bus back at 8-9.00.  Late stayers can take a taxi home for £30.  Out on town.

MONDAY:  Meet at 12.00 and walk to the shooting range for pistol competition.  Free afternoon.  Meet in the bar at 7.00 for a walk to ERA restaurant for AGM dinner in private room.

TUESDAY:  9.00 for bus to airport.  

COST OF AIRPORT TRANSFERS, GUIDES, BUS TO RESTAURANT, BUS TO BEACH

The cost per person of all the transfers, guides, buses, tips etc is £100 (or E120) per person.  The cost of the bike ride (including bikes being delivered and collected from our hotel) is £35 (E40) per rider (I have booked 11 bikes, BRIAN, STEVE, NICK, RON, ANDY, WAYNE, GRAHAM, IAN, OWEN, GARY, HUGH.  I have not booked for LEN, PHIL, TONY, JOHN.  If that is wrong let me know ASAP).

These will be paid in cash.  So on the plane I will be asking everyone to pay me in sterling or euros the amounts shown above.  Please do not add it to the hotel bill, just bring cash on the AGM.  

As explain in the briefing notes, in Albania the Lek is easily obtainable at an ATM (one in the hotel), and they all take sterling and euros (euros preferred).  £1 = 110 Lek,  So for a 100 Lek they take £1 or E1.  You can't buy Lek in the UK.

HENSLOW TOURS DISCLAIMER:  This is one of the cheapest AGM’s for years.  £620 for an extended legroom seat and a shared 5 star hotel for four nights including breakfast.  £840 for a single. Plus, the venue itself, Albania, is cheap, cheap, cheap. 

But if it all turns to worms then I am the last person to complain too about it.  With all the issues nowadays to do with flights etc we must all just cross our fingers. On my recce it was faultless, no delays, no customs issues, no nothing.  So, as I say, fingers crossed!!!!
